About the Position
The University of Tübingen invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Linguistics, starting 1 October 2025, as part of the new Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 1718: “Common Ground: Cognition – Grammar – Communication”, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The position is embedded in Project B5, which investigates the form and function of reprise questions and fragments across European languages, using experimental and crosslinguistic methods.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD (or near completion) in Linguistics or a closely related field
- Fluency in English (spoken and written)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in formal syntax, morphosyntax, and pragmatics
- Experience conducting experimental syntactic studies
- Familiarity with crosslinguistic research methodologies
- Willingness to work on-site in Tübingen
- Ability to contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct crosslinguistic experiments on reprise constructions in approx. 6 European languages
- Analyse morphosyntactic and prosodic patterns in multilingual datasets
- Collaborate with CRC researchers to shape the theoretical direction of the project
- Participate in CRC research platforms and interdisciplinary activities
- Produce high-quality research outputs and contribute to publication goals
