About Position/Job
The University of Granada is offering a research contract under the ANTIGONE Project – Archaeology of sharing practices: the material evidence of mountain marginalisation in Europe. This exciting opportunity is ideal for early-career researchers with a background in archaeology or history. The selected candidate will be involved in the digital documentation of archaeological data, with a focus on medieval Islamic sites, particularly in the provinces of Granada and Almería. The position supports the university’s broader commitment to regionally focused, interdisciplinary research and heritage preservation. Working within the Vicerrectorado de Investigación, the role combines field-based expertise with advanced digital recording systems, including the MEMOLab system, GIS, and archaeological databases. This position is part-time and temporarily funded by an EU research programme, offering a unique chance to contribute to a European-scale heritage project.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in History or Archaeology
- Master’s degree in Archaeology
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in archaeological excavations, especially in medieval Islamic contexts
- Familiarity with fortification sites in Granada and Almería
- Proficiency in the MEMOLab recording system and GIS-based documentation
- Valid driver’s licence (B1 category)
Key Responsibilities

- Support fieldwork and documentation processes at designated sites
