About the Fellowship
The JSPS Invitational Fellowships for Research in Japan FY2026 support experienced overseas researchers with outstanding academic achievements to collaborate with Japanese colleagues. Funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), these fellowships promote international academic exchange and strengthen global research networks. Researchers can engage in long-term collaborative research (2 to 10 months) or short-term visits (14 to 60 days) for discussions, lectures, and opinion exchanges. Open to all fields, the fellowship offers a unique opportunity to work in Japan’s dynamic research environment and contribute to global scientific advancement.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Be a citizen or permanent resident of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan (Taiwan and Palestine treated similarly)
- Hold a position equivalent to professor, associate professor, or assistant professor, or have six years or more of research experience after PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong international publication record
- Prior experience in international collaborative projects
Not Eligible:
- Researchers without a formal invitation from a Japanese host
- Early-career researchers lacking sufficient academic achievements
Fellowship/Job Benefits
- Monthly stipend: JPY 387,600 (Long-term)
