About Position/Job
The Networked Center for Research in Anthropology (CRIA) in Lisbon is inviting applications for a permanent, full-time Assistant Researcher position in Public Anthropology. This opportunity is part of the FCT-Tenure Program, designed to strengthen CRIA’s strategic line in Public Anthropology while encouraging collaboration across its university hubs and with IN2PAST. The selected researcher will engage in high-impact, interdisciplinary research addressing urgent social challenges such as migration, climate change, heritage, and human rights. With a strong focus on community engagement, this role offers the chance to lead innovative projects that connect academic research with real-world issues. Research area

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Anthropology or a closely related field with relevant expertise
- At least five publications in the last five years in indexed journals, books, or chapters
- Participation in at least two funded R&D projects
- A three-year scientific project aligned with CRIA’s strategic mission
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in public engagement and science communication
- Demonstrated ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
- Supervision and teaching experience at postgraduate level
Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct research projects in Public Anthropology
- Apply for competitive funding and manage project budgets
- Build and maintain strong relationships with communities and stakeholders
- Collaborate with CRIA’s university hubs and the IN2PAST laboratory
- Publish research in high-impact journals and present at conferences
- Supervise and mentor postgraduate students
- Develop new courses and contribute to CRIA’s training programmes
- Actively engage in science communication and public outreach initiatives
