St John’s College, part of the University of Cambridge, is offering four prestigious Research Fellowships for early-career academics beginning 1 October 2026. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD submitted after 1 October 2024, or on track to be submitted by 1 October 2026
- Applicants must be early-career scholars (typically finishing or recently completed PhD)
- Open to graduates of any university, UK or international
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong academic record
- Research achievements or potential in the stated disciplines
- Experience presenting or publishing research
Not Eligible:
- Current holders of a Fellowship at a Cambridge College
- Candidates who accept a Fellowship at another Cambridge College during the process
Fellowship/Job Benefits
- Monthly stipend or salary: £33,482 starting salary with annual increments
- Housing allowance: Up to £35,760 across four years (for those living outside College)
- Research support: Up to £10,000 for academic materials, travel, equipment, and organising conferences
- Accommodation: Option to live in single College accommodation (charges apply)
- Dining privileges: One free meal per day in College
- Office space and resources: Provided to those residing outside College
- Teaching opportunities: Paid separately for up to six hours per week
