About Position/Job

The School of Archaeology at the University of Oxford is seeking a Research Fellow in Biocultural Heritage to support the development of a new postgraduate taught curriculum in this emerging interdisciplinary field. Working closely with Professor Amy Bogaard (Professor of European Archaeology), the fellow will coordinate academic planning across the School of Archaeology and collaborating departments. The role offers the opportunity to shape a curriculum that bridges archaeology, cultural heritage, and biology, enhancing Oxford’s research and teaching excellence in biocultural heritage. This is a fixed-term, part-time appointment with competitive salary and strong potential for academic collaboration.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage academic projects with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to prioritise and manage a varied academic workload
  • Experience in curriculum development within higher education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of publication and research dissemination
  • Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration across archaeology, cultural heritage, and biological sciences

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Professor Amy Bogaard and academic colleagues to design a postgraduate taught curriculum in biocultural heritage
  • Coordinate with relevant departments and University committees to meet curriculum development standards
  • Write for publication and represent the project in academic meetings and conferences
  • Manage timetables, reporting, and administrative aspects of curriculum development
