About the Position
The School of Archaeology, Geography & Environmental Science at the University of Reading is inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant (PDRA) in Functional Biodiversity. This is a full-time, fixed-term contract of up to 20 months, funded under the renowned LEMONTREE project (Land Ecosystem Models based On New Theory, Observations and Experiments). Supervised by Professor Sandy P. Harrison, the postholder will focus on statistical analysis of plant trait data and develop a theoretical framework linking biodiversity traits to environmental constraints using eco-evolutionary optimality (EEO) theory. The role will include field and laboratory validation, and collaboration with international experts at Imperial College London and Tsinghua University, making this a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge global research.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Environmental Science or closely related discipline (by start date)
- Strong understanding of functional biodiversity and trait-environment interactions
- Familiarity with eco-evolutionary optimality concepts
- Good programming skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with biodiversity and trait-based datasets
- Publication record in relevant fields
- Ability to plan, manage, and prioritise workload under strict deadlines
Key Responsibilities
