About the Fellowship

The Jean Monnet Fellowships at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS), European University Institute (EUI), are prestigious one-year residential opportunities for mid-career scholars. Open to academics who obtained their PhD more than five years before the start of the fellowship, the programme allows fellows to pursue independent research while contributing to the Centre’s dynamic projects. Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD obtained more than five years before the start of the fellowship (before 1 September 2021)
  • Strong research proposal aligned with the Centre’s programmes
  • Open to scholars worldwide

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven publication record in relevant disciplines
  • International research or teaching experience
  • Demonstrated capacity for interdisciplinary collaboration

Not Eligible:

  • Scholars who received their PhD less than five years prior to 1 September 2026 (they should instead apply to the Max Weber Programme)
