About the Position
The University of Copenhagen invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Researcher in Paleoproteomics at the Globe Institute, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. Starting from 1 February 2026 (or soon after), this role forms part of the prestigious DFF Sapere Aude project – MiddleEarth, led by Dr Frido Welker. The project explores hominin occupation histories in Central Eurasia through advanced palaeoproteomic methods applied to archaeological fossils. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of molecular biologists, palaeoanthropologists, and archaeologists dedicated to understanding human evolution. This role offers the opportunity to conduct fieldwork, collaborate internationally, and contribute to cutting-edge biomolecular research that bridges archaeology, evolutionary biology, and proteomics.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD (or near completion) in palaeoproteomics, archaeological science, or related fields
- Proven laboratory skills in ancient protein extraction and analysis
- Experience in computational data analysis related to proteomics
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing computational methods for proteomic data
- Familiarity with protein mass spectrometry
- Strong publication record in international journals
- Interest in interdisciplinary and collaborative research
Key Responsibilities
- Extract and analyse hominin proteomes from archaeological fossils
- Conduct sampling, laboratory extractions, and bioinformatics analysis
- Collaborate with internal and international research partners
- Contribute to publications and dissemination of findings
- Participate in project-related fieldwork in Central Eurasia
