About the Program
The University of Oulu invites applications for a Doctoral/PhD Researcher in Mammal Paleobiology / Earth System Evolution within the Faculty of Humanities, Department of Archaeology. This exciting PhD opportunity is part of the Deep History of Human Past research programme and contributes to the project “Understanding Past Ecosystems to Build a More Resilient Future”, funded by the Eudaimonia Institute Spearhead Project. The research explores how tectonics, volcanism, and landscape evolution influenced mammalian and hominin ecosystems during the Late Neogene (12–2.5 million years ago), focusing on the Central Anatolian Volcanic Province (Türkiye). The doctoral researcher will work with an international team, combining palaeontological, geological, and ecological data to advance understanding of long-term faunal evolution and environmental change.
