Research Fellow in Palaeoclimate and Palaeoenvironmental Reconstruction – ANU, Australia

About the Position

The Australian National University (ANU) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in in Palaeoclimate Reasearch within the Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES) in Canberra. This six-month, full-time position focuses on palaeoclimate and palaeoenvironmental reconstruction from Australian lacustrine environments. The successful candidate will collaborate on developing chronological models and sediment-based reconstructions to explore past climate dynamics. Supervised by Assoc. Prof. David Heslop, this project combines advanced geoscientific methodologies with international collaboration, contributing to ANU’s world-leading climate and environmental research. Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in Earth Science or a closely related discipline
  • Proven experience in reconstructing palaeoclimate or palaeoenvironmental change
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications and academic presentations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in analysing lacustrine sediments
  • Experience collaborating in interdisciplinary or international research teams
  • Mentoring and leadership experience in academic environments

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct collaborative research on Australian lake systems
  • Develop and interpret chronological models for palaeoenvironmental histories
  • Publish findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences
