About the Position
Ghent University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Climate Projections to join the TEMPUR project (FWO-WEAVE) within the Faculty of Sciences, Department of Physics and Astronomy. This interdisciplinary project investigates climate change-related mortality across urban Belgium by integrating climate and demographic data. The successful candidate will focus on downscaling past and future climate model data to kilometre-scale resolution, incorporating urban effects. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Physics or a closely related science (awarded within the past 6 years)
- Proven research experience in climate modelling or atmospheric physics
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ALARO-SURFEX model
- Expertise in bias correction and downscaling of climate projections
- Supervisory experience with MSc or PhD students
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high-resolution climate projections and downscaling for the TEMPUR project
- Integrate urban effects into model simulations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers on climate and health studies
- Mentor MSc and PhD students in related research areas
