About Position/Job
The School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UEA) invites applications for a Senior Research Associate in Wildfire Research. This full-time, 30-month fixed-term position, starting 2 March 2026, will investigate the causes and consequences of extreme wildfires. The role involves applying machine learning, statistical modelling, and environmental data science to satellite, meteorological, climate, socioeconomic, land cover, and ecological datasets. Working with the international State of Wildfires Project and industrial partners, the appointee will develop predictive capabilities for megafires, contribute to publications, co-supervise researchers, and engage in outreach and interdisciplinary research in climate hazards and wildfire risk.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Postgraduate degree or equivalent experience in relevant research areas
- Experience in independent research and publications in respected journals
- Strong data analysis, statistical, and machine learning skills
- Ability to work proactively and in a results-driven manner
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in supervising students or teaching small classes
- Knowledge of environmental hazards and wildfire research
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Key Responsibilities
