About the Position
The University of Amsterdam (UvA) invites applications for a fully funded PhD in conservation biology, focusing on Integrated Population Modelling for Black-Tailed Godwit Conservation. This four-year project aims to develop advanced population models to guide conservation decisions and reverse the decline of the Netherlands’ national bird, the black-tailed godwit.
The PhD combines field ecology, Bayesian modelling, and spatial population analysis within a collaboration between UvA and the University of Groningen. Based at the Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED), you’ll work under the supervision of Dr Eldar Rakhimberdiev, with access to the university’s cutting-edge facilities and high-performance computing.
This position offers a rare opportunity to integrate ecological data, quantitative analysis, and conservation policy in a globally significant research environment.
