About the Position
The University of Innsbruck is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in Microarchaeology within the Faculty of Philosophy and History. This part-time (20 hours/week), temporary position starts on 26 January 2026 and offers an exceptional opportunity for independent research in geoarchaeology, bioarchaeology, and settlement archaeology. Research Area

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Doctoral degree in geoarchaeology, bioarchaeology, or prehistory/early history archaeology
- Completed MA/MSc in a relevant discipline
- Strong expertise in geoarchaeology (micromorphology preferred), bioarchaeology, or settlement archaeology
- Publication record in peer-reviewed journals
- Practical experience in laboratory work and computer skills (GIS, databases)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Research experience in Central Europe and the Alpine region
- Excellent command of English; additional modern languages advantageous
- Driving license (category B)
- Strong organisational, teamwork, and communication skills
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent microarchaeological research
- Manage and organise laboratory operations, consult on sample collection, supervise staff, and perform analyses
- Deliver research-led teaching and supervise students
- Contribute to research projects and acquire third-party funding
