About the Position
The CNRS – Laboratoire d’ethnologie et de sociologie comparative invites applications for a Posctdoctoral Researcher (R2) in Sociology or Anthropology to join the Hyp-Hope project. Under the supervision of Baptiste Moutaud and Boris Hauray, the successful candidate will conduct qualitative research on the development of hypnosis in French healthcare, exploring professional practices, user experiences, and scientific studies. This full-time temporary position (35 hours/week), starting 1 January 2026, combines fieldwork, interviews, observations, and literature review with active participation in project workshops, seminars, and conferences. Applicants should have a PhD in Anthropology or Sociology, knowledge of health practices, and proficiency in French and English. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary research on mind-body relationships, non-conventional healthcare, and medical demedicalization in France.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Sociology, Anthropology, or related social sciences
- Good knowledge of healthcare systems, wellness, or medical research
- Basic to good level of French (spoken and written)
- Reading English; fluency in English advantageous
- Knowledge of anthropology/sociology of health, medicine, or science and technology
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in qualitative research methods (interviews, observations)
- Interest in interdisciplinary humanities and social sciences research
- Initiative and teamwork skills
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent qualitative research on the Hyp-Hope project
- Collect and analyse data on hypnosis practices and experiences
