About the Position/Job
The University of Graz, Austria, is inviting applications for a University Assistant with a doctorate in the Department of Geography and Regional Sciences. This full-time postdoctoral position is based within the INTEGRATIVES working group, focusing on applied integrative geography, environmental research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and Arctic/Sub-Arctic field studies. The selected candidate will co-develop the planned SermilikT – Sermilik Methods Training and Research Hub for Decolonial, Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Arctic Research, associated with the Sermilik Research Station in East Greenland. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Human or Physical Geography or a closely related discipline
- Experience working with Indigenous communities in Arctic/Sub-Arctic regions
- Strong knowledge of qualitative and interpretative research methods
- Proven publication record
- Excellent English proficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Danish, Tunumiisut or Kalaallisut
- Experience integrating social and natural science methodologies
- Teaching experience at BA/MA levels
- Familiarity with qualitative data analysis software
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Key Responsibilities
- Co-develop and coordinate the SermilikT research and training hub
- Conduct independent and collaborative interdisciplinary research, including fieldwork
- Design innovative training tools for decolonial, inter- and transdisciplinary research
- Engage with Indigenous rights holders and community members
- Produce scientific publications and community-engaged outputs
- Teach two courses per semester and supervise students
- Assist with grant applications, administrative duties, and event organisation
- Contribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and creative work environment
