About the Scholarship
The Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (UAL) invites applications for a fully funded PhD Doctoral Scholarship under the project BI_2026_1_CGEO.UAL_UID/00073/2025, hosted by the Geosciences Centre (CGeo). This scholarship supports doctoral research within the PhD in Heritage, Technology and Territory, jointly offered by UAL and the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar. The research focuses on rock art archaeology, with particular attention to the origins and diffusion of schematic art in the Mediterranean and Iberian Peninsula. Combining archaeology, digital humanities and artificial intelligence, the project promotes interdisciplinary research, innovation in heritage documentation, and advanced methodological training. It is designed for early-career researchers seeking rigorous academic development and international research exposure within a recognised Portuguese research unit.
