Postgraduate Oceanography Position in Environmental & Earth Sciences at OGS, Sgonico, Italy – Apply by 15 February 2026

About Position/Job

OGS (Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e Geofisica Sperimentale), Italy, is inviting applications for a Postgraduate Oceanography Position at the Oceanography Section in Sgonico, Italy. This full-time, temporary research grant is aimed at early-stage researchers (R1) with a Master’s degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Earth Science, or related disciplines.

The research focuses on intermediate trophic levels, which act as a critical ecological link between phytoplankton and top predators. Candidates will use data analysis methods and deterministic models, integrating physical and biogeochemical dynamics to study temporal and spatial ecosystem processes. High-performance computing may be applied where necessary.

This position offers the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary marine research, contribute to quantitative modelling of renewable biological resources, and work on environmental variability impacts on marine ecosystems. Researchers will join a prestigious Italian institution and gain hands-on experience in oceanography, environmental modelling, and earth system science.
