Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Citizen of Japan, India, Australia, or the U.S.A., or
    5+ years of strong professional experience in one of these countries
  • Holding a Ph.D. or a Master’s degree with minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Proposal must involve multi-country research (at least two countries apart from base country)
  • Fellowship tenure must include:
    • At least 50% time in Japan for non-Japan-based fellows, or
    • Time in one of the other three countries for Japan-based fellows

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven research experience with publications
  • International collaboration background
  • Policy or fieldwork experience in the Indo-Pacific context

Not Eligible:

  • Proposals based in only one country
  • Applicants without required educational or professional experience
