About Position/Job
The Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit (MBGU) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru, is inviting applications for a Junior Research Fellow /JRF to work on the project titled “Elucidating the role of lysosomal hydrolase trafficking in health and disease.” Under the guidance of Prof. Ravi Manjithaya, this position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical biomedical research focused on cellular and molecular mechanisms relevant to human health. The successful candidate will work in a highly interdisciplinary environment with access to advanced research infrastructure. This role is best suited for candidates passionate about intracellular trafficking, autophagy, and infection biology, and offers a platform to develop high-level expertise in microscopy and biochemical techniques. This fellowship is funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Postgraduate degree in Life Sciences or professional course
- Qualification through any of the following:
- CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship) or GATE
- National-level exams by DST, DBT, DAE, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IITs, IISc, IISERs, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in mammalian cell culture
- Advanced skills in fluorescence microscopy (live cell imaging, immunofluorescence, image analysis)
- Proficiency in western blotting and immunoprecipitation
- Prior research experience in intracellular infection
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Team-oriented approach
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct experimental work on lysosomal hydrolase trafficking
- Maintain and handle mammalian cell cultures
- Perform advanced fluorescence imaging and biochemical assays
- Analyse and interpret experimental data
- Collaborate within the team and assist in manuscript preparation
