King’s College London is seeking a full-time Lecturer in the History of Political Thought to join its world-renowned Department of History for the academic year 2025–2026. This is a fixed-term post covering Dr Amar Sohal’s research leave. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s global and inclusive curriculum, teaching modules on Western political ideas and anti-colonial Indian thought. Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Expertise in Indian and global anti-colonial thought and modern European intellectual history
  • Experience in university-level teaching
  • Demonstrated potential for high-quality research and publication
  • Administrative and academic engagement experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fellowship or Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy
  • Experience designing and delivering online teaching

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach modules in political thought including Western and anti-colonial traditions
  • Supervise students and provide academic support
  • Conduct research and produce high-quality publications
  • Contribute to departmental administration and curriculum development
  • Participate in academic networking and outreach
