About the Position
Umeå University invites applications for a funded Postdoctoral Fellow in Digital Humanities within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Humlab, located in Umeå, Sweden. This opportunity focuses on AI, digital culture, memory studies, and interdisciplinary humanities research, contributing to the WASP-HS research cluster “AI Futures of Culture and Memory.”
The position engages with how AI transforms cultural production, preservation, interpretation, and collective memory systems. Successful candidates will work within a large interdisciplinary team, contributing independently to research projects while participating in Humlab activities. In addition, researchers will use digital methods, AI systems, and computational approaches to analyse cultural datasets. Access to advanced research infrastructure ensures strong support for high-impact academic outputs.
Applicants must hold a PhD in ethnology, cultural heritage studies, archive studies, museology, gender studies or related disciplines. A strong publication record, research experience, and basic understanding of AI systems are essential. Furthermore, excellent English communication skills and collaborative research ability are required for this internationally oriented postdoctoral role.
