École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE – PSL) invites applications for two funded Postdoctoral Researcher positions in Medieval Hebrew Palaeography as part of the ERC Synergy MiDRASH project. Based in Paris, France, the appointments begin in October 2026 and focus on research into medieval Hebrew manuscripts, palaeographic annotation, and collaborative academic research.
The successful candidates will join the research team led by Judith Olszowy-Schlanger and contribute to the ERC Synergy MiDRASH project, which examines the migration of textual and scribal traditions through computational analysis of medieval manuscripts written in Hebrew script. The appointments are affiliated with EA 4116 – SAPRAT (Knowledge and Practices from the Middle Ages to the Contemporary Era) at EPHE – PSL.
Working within an interdisciplinary research environment, the postdoctoral researchers will implement palaeographic annotations for the Hebrew Paleography Digital Album (HebrewPal) while contributing to a collective monograph on Hebrew palaeography methodology. They will also participate in weekly research seminars, project meetings, and academic conferences organised through the MiDRASH collaboration.
Alongside these research activities, the positions provide opportunities to collaborate with specialists in medieval manuscript studies while supporting the development of digital resources for Hebrew palaeography. Researchers will be based at Campus Condorcet in Paris, where a shared project office is available, and attendance in person for at least one day each week is expected.
