Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in Classical Archaeology or a closely related field
  • Doctorate awarded with at least magna cum laude or equivalent honors
  • A strong and theoretically grounded research proposal aligned with one of the following topics:
    • Image Processes: Image Production as an Ongoing Process
    • Semantic Ambiguities: Openness and Indeterminacy of Images
  • Proven interest and expertise in ancient visual culture and image theory
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral dissertation focused on ancient imagery or visual analysis
  • Already published PhD thesis

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research and publish a monograph in alignment with the project themes
  • Organize and co-publish an academic colloquium
  • Contribute to theoretical advancement of the FRAGILE IMAGES project
  • Present findings at international conferences and symposia
  • Undertake reporting and administrative duties related to the ERC grant
