About the Position
The University of Oulu in Finland invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Mammal Paleobiology / Earth System Evolution within the Faculty of Humanities. This three-year, full-time position is part of the Deep History of Human Past research programme in the Department of Archaeology, under the Eudaimonia Institute Spearhead Project. The project, “Understanding Past Ecosystems to Build a More Resilient Future,” explores how tectonics, volcanism, and landscape evolution shaped mammalian and hominin ecosystems during the Late Neogene (12–2.5 million years ago), focusing on the Central Anatolian Volcanic Province (Türkiye). The role offers the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary research combining paleontology, geology, geochemistry, and modelling to reconstruct past environments and understand long-term ecosystem evolution.
