About the Position
The French Institutes for Advanced Study (FIAS) Fellowship 2026–2027 at the University of Montpellier offers prestigious 10-month fellowships for international scholars in the social sciences, humanities, and interdisciplinary research addressing societal challenges and sustainable development. Hosted by the MAK’IT Institute, this fellowship includes a €2,200 monthly stipend, accommodation, travel, and research funding. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD + at least 2 years of research experience (excluding PhD training)
- Must not have spent more than 12 months in France in the last 3 years
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated track record of high-impact research
- Experience in interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary projects
- Previous international research collaborations
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent research aligned with SSH and sustainability
- Collaborate with MAK’IT partner institutions and local labs
- Participate in interdisciplinary events, workshops, and seminars
- Produce a short activity report at the end of the fellowship
- Disseminate research outcomes through MAK’IT platforms
