Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU Munich) invites applications for a Full Professorship of Pre- and Protohistoric Archaeology within the Faculty for the Study of Culture. The chair will lead research and teaching across the broad field of Pre- and Protohistoric Archaeology, applying a cultural-analytical approach to the study of past societies. A particular interest in pre-Christian periods, including the Younger Neolithic, Copper Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age, is desirable.
The successful candidate will also contribute to ongoing work examining human-environment relations and help strengthen activities associated with the Vegetation History Working Group. Alongside subject-specific scholarship, the position encourages engagement with interdisciplinary research approaches and cooperation across the archaeological research community.
Teaching duties extend across bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programmes. Responsibilities include supervising student projects, conducting examinations, developing research initiatives, securing external funding, and participating in collaborative academic activities.
